چکیده

A 67-year-old male was diagnosed as myxoma-related cerebral aneurysm. Transthoracic echocardiogram showed a large mass in the left atrium and pathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of myxoma. Cerebral magnetic resonance angiography revealed an aneurysm in the right internal carotid artery. However, the aneurysm was disappeared amazingly after successful resection of cardiac mass. There are a few similar case reports in the literature. Our case report illustrates that cerebral aneurysms may be associated with cardiac myxomas and that closely follow-up cerebral aneurysms after resection of myxoma is necessary.

Emergency Excision of Cardiac Myxoma and Endovascular Coiling of Intracranial Aneurysm after Cerebral Infarction

Cardiac myxoma is the most common primary tumor of the heart, located mainly in the left atrium. Cerebral embolization or intracranial aneurysm formation as a consequence of left atrial myxomas has been well documented, whereas myxoma embolization causing the combination of cerebral infarction and intracranial myxomatous aneurysm is rare. We report herein, a 67-year-old female with a cardiac my...

Recurrent non-aneurysmal, metastatic intraparenchymal haemorrhages following resection of atrial myxoma - case report and literature review.

Atrial myxomas are the commonest cardiac neoplasms. The most common extra-cardiac manifestations are embolic infarcts from tumour embolisation. Infrequently, aneurysm formation and intracranial haemorrhages also occur. Incredibly rare are space-occupying lesions and malignant transformation. The authors report a case of a previously healthy middle-aged lady who developed recurrent and expanding...

Cerebral aneurysm associated with cardiac myxoma: Case report.

Left atrial myxomas are a rare but well known cause of cerebrovascular accidents in young people. Cerebral embolism is the most common cause of cerebral ischemic stroke. The intracranial aneurysm is rarely associated with myxoma. We report the case of a patient who had an operation of PICA aneurysm due to subarachnoid hemorrhage ten months before the discovery of the large left atrial myxoma. F...

Multiple cerebral mycotic aneurysms due to left atrial myxoma: are there any pitfalls for the cardiac surgeon?

Acute cerebral embolism or cerebral aneurysm formation as a consequence of left atrial myxomas has been well documented, but the formation of multiple cerebral aneurysms resulting from atrial myxoma is a very rare neurological complication. We present the case of a 72-year-old-woman with a cardiac myxoma who suffered multiple cerebral mycotic aneurysms. After experiencing both vertigo and a sud...

Cerebral aneurysms in atrial myxoma: a delayed, rare manifestation.

Atrial myxomas are the most common primary tumors of the heart. Neurologic involvement usually occurs as a stroke with ischemic episodes. Following excision of cardiac myxomas, delayed neurologic events owing to aneurysms are rare and have not been reported from India. We report an operated case of left atrial myxoma. The patient initially presented with a stroke and 6 months after the surgery,...
